About the Festival
The North Wales International Music Festival was founded by William Mathias in 1972. The aim of the Festival was to bring the finest international artists to North Wales.
St Asaph Cathedral was chosen by William Mathias as the venue for the Festival as he believed it had the finest acoustic in North Wales. This has been confirmed throughout the years by musicians and audiences alike.
Over the years there have been many artists who have played regularly as part of the Festival; the BBC National Orchestra of Wales played at the first Festival in 1972.
The Festival also promotes concerts for children. Live Music Now! has provided some wonderful concerts over the years and will feature again this year.
