Artistic Director
Ann Atkinson
Ann Atkinson is Artistic Director for the North Wales International Music Festival. Under her stewardship, the Festival has experienced something of a renaissance and is now one of the most vibrant classical music events in Wales. If you are in North Wales in September it's the place to be! Born in North Wales, Ann gained a scholarship to study singing at the Royal Academy of Music and, after graduating, made her professional debut for Scottish Opera in Verdi's Il Trovatore.
Ann has sung for many opera companies in the UK including Glyndebourne Festival and Touring Opera, Scottish Opera, Wexford Festival Opera (Rep of Ireland), Mid-Wales Opera and Opera Box. She has performed in many of the country's largest concert halls including the Royal Albert Hall, Symphony Hall, Birmingham, The Sage, Newcastle and the
Bridgewater Hall, Manchester. She has also performed extensively abroad in places ranging from the USA and Europe to Vietnam and the Caribbean.
In 2005 she had a wonderful visit to New Zealand and Australia as the guest soloist for the Lion's Male Voice Choir; their last concert at the Sydney Opera House was unforgetable!
Ann is married to the baritone Kevin Sharp whom she regularly partners on the concert platform.
In addition to her invaulable work with the North Wales International Music Festival, and her singing, Ann is also the Musical Director of two male voice choirs: the 'Fron' Male Voice Choir and Bro Glyndwr Male Voice Choir.
