Welcome For the first Festival in recent years we look forward to not one but two full orchestral concerts. We are thrilled to welcome Vasily Petrenko and The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for our opening concert together with the highly talented pianist Paul Lewis. Further delights for piano fans will be provided by Llŷr Williams and John Lill while the anniversaries of Olivier Messiaen and Ralph Vaughan Williams will give us the opportunity to savour the exquisite music of these two great composers in the company of The Tallis Scholars, Dame Gillian Weir and regular favourites the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Altogether we can look forward to another exciting week of vibrant concerts and workshops spiced with a dash of folk music and seasoned with a soupçon of jazz – something for everyone... oh, and did I forget to mention we have Julian Lloyd Webber as well? Am y tro cyntaf ers tro, edrychwn ymlaen yn yr Ŵyl eleni at ddau gyngerdd gyda cherddorfa lawn. Rydym yn ymhyfrydu wrth groesawu Vasily Petrenko a Cherddorfa Ffilharmonig Frenhinol Lerpwl ar gyfer ein cyngerdd agoriadol, ynghyd â’r pianydd hynod dalentog Paul Lewis.
